We are lucky enough to live in the shadow of the Ruby Mountains in Northeastern Nevada. They have also earned the nickname The Nevada Swiss Alps. The highest peak is Ruby Dome that reaches 11,837. The range is dotted with pristine mountain lakes many of which are accessible via Lamoille Canyon. For more information click here.
A couple weeks ago we took advantage of a free Saturday and hiked to Lamoille Lake. It is about 1 1/2 miles from the trail head at the top of the access road in Lamoille Canyon. I would say it is a moderate hike. Our boys did great and loved it!
This was one of the first times we used our Osprey Poco AG Child Carrier. We highly recommend this pack! We met another family on the trail that had the same one. They raved about theirs as well. Houston said it is super comfy. He was able to carry all 30 lbs of Roman comfortably for 3+ pretty steep miles. It even has shade to protect them from the sun but folds away nicely when you don’t need it. I also appreciate that it has lots of pockets for storage. We bought ours at Scheels. Here is the link.
This was an awesome half day hike. I can’t believe we have lived here for over 5 years and this is the first time we have gone on this hike. There are several lakes on this same trail. We only went to the first one. We plan to hike to the next lake, Liberty Lake, the first chance we get!
LOve it! We finally got up there on Friday and even though I wasn’t able to go too far it was beautiful! and of course, we got stuck in a random downpour! Thanks for the advice on the bag! matthew and I LOVE Osprey and are looking at different packs for benji.
